Education Qualifications

  • The candidate must be a Law Graduate (before taking up the assignment as Law Clerk) having a Bachelor Degree in Law (including Integrated Degree Course in Law) from any School/College/University/Institution established by law in India and recognized by the Bar Council of India for enrolment as an Advocate
  • The candidate studying in the fifth year of the Five-Year Integrated Law Course or the third year of the Three-Year Law Course after graduation in any stream will also be eligible to apply, subject to furnishing proof of acquiring Law qualification before taking up the assignment as Law Clerk-cum-Research Associate
  • The candidate must have research and analytical skills, writing abilities, and knowledge of computer, including retrieval of desired information from various search engines/processes such as e-SCR, Manupatra, SCC Online, LexisNexis, Westlaw, etc.

Salary/Stipend

  • Consolidated Remuneration: Rs. 1,00,000/- per month
  • Assignment Term: 2026-2027
  • Nature of Engagement: Purely contractual assignment on short-term basis
  • Working Hours: Candidates will be required to work even at odd hours and on holidays, in exigency of work
  • Posting: The Registry reserves the right to utilize the services of the Law Clerks and they can be posted at any place in the Registry/Courts/Chambers/Residential Office of Hon'ble the Chief Justice of India/Hon'ble Judges, according to administrative exigency.

Age Criteria

  • Minimum Age: 20 years (The candidate must not be below the age of 20 years)
  • Maximum Age: 32 years (The candidate must not be above 32 years)
  • Age Calculation Date: Age limit will be calculated as on 07.02.2026.

    Selection Process

  • Part I - Multiple Choice Based Questions: Testing the candidates' ability to understand and apply the law, and comprehension skills
      • Test will be conducted in online mode
      • Minimum qualifying marks: 60 per cent
      • Negative marking of 0.25 mark for each incorrect answer
    • Part II - Subjective Written Test: Covering writing and analytical skills
      • Question paper will be visible on Computer Screen
      • Candidates have to write answers in pen-paper mode
    • Part III - Interview: Candidates who successfully qualify both Part-I and Part-II Tests will be called for interview in the ratio of 1:3 as against the number of tentative vacancies
    • Evaluation Ratio: In case large number of candidates qualify Part-I Test by securing minimum qualifying marks of 60 per cent, based on the merit list, the answer sheets of Part-II Test will be evaluated following the ratio of 1:10 as against the number of tentative vacancies
    • Model Answer Keys: Will be uploaded on the website on 08.03.2026 and will be available till 11:59 p.m. on 09.03.2026, for inviting online objections, if any, from the candidates relating to Part-I Test, subject to payment of fee of Rs. 100/- per objection, which will be refunded in case the objection is found to be valid
    • Details of the Pattern of Examination, Minimum Qualifying Standards, Terms and Conditions are available in the "Scheme of Engaging Law Clerk-cum-Research Associates on Short-Term Contractual Assignment in the Supreme Court of India-January 2024, as amended"

  • Eligible candidates are required to apply online only
  • Visit the official Supreme Court website: www.sci.gov.in
  • The link for online application will be provided through Supreme Court website
  • Access the Judicial Clerkship section at: https://www.sci.gov.in/judicial-clerkship/
  • The application will be accepted through online registration only from 20.01.2026
  • Fill the online application form with all required details carefully
  • Upload scanned copy of recent photograph and signature as per instructions
  • Ensure all particulars filled in the online application form are correct before final submission
  • Pay the non-refundable Application/Test Fee of Rs. 750/- plus bank charges through online mode using Payment Gateway provided by UCO Bank
  • After successful submission, take a printout of the filled-up application with Application Number for your record
  • Retain the Application Number carefully for generation of admit card/call letter and other information
  • Complete the online registration before the last date: 07.02.2026
  • In case of any technical or other query, call at Helpline numbers available on the weblink
  • Application once submitted cannot be withdrawn or modified
  • No postal application shall be accepted.
